They first saw Spike, who was also drawn to the communication. Vicious and Lin went to the moon to meet the person. While it was unusual for someone to do that directly to him, The Van allowed it, sending Lin with him. Vicious received a request to sell Red Eye from someone named Julia on Callisto. However, he saw Spike left a grenade and ran, surviving. They fought, each wounding the other but Vicious was able to push Spike through a window. He watched Spike arrive and kill most of his men before advancing to him on the second floor. Allowing Faye to contact Spike to tell him where she is, Vicious waited in a cathedral with his men. Vicious knew that Spike would be after him and decided to trap Faye Valentine who would be looking for Mao's bounty. Vicious himself killed Mao, but not before smiling when Mao said he would never have done this if Spike were still there. His men waited until Mao watched Carlos' ship explode to burst in and kill Mao's men. He sabotaged Carlos' ship when he visited Mao's headquarters to explode on his return trip. Vicious gradually lost respect for Mao, and, when Mao intended to sign a truce with Carlos of the White Tiger Crime Syndicate, decided to take action. It is established that Vicious knows Julia by this point as he gives her music box to Gren, whom he testifies against for being a spy in the war's aftermath. This betrayal seemingly triggered their blood feud and possibly resulted in Vicious' enlistment in the War on Titan. Spike decided to leave the syndicate and attempted to take Julia with him. Mao Yenrai took Vicious and Spike under his wing inside the Syndicate where they rise up the ranks. He also met and developed a relationship with Julia. By 2068, Vicious had become a strong member of the Red Dragon, along with Spike Spiegel. Much about his early life was not widely known. Wouldn't it make more sense if Jet, someone who Spike has known much longer than Faye, be the one who is physically involved with the overarching plot? I'm sure this isn't without reason.Vicious was born in 2044. For instance, she always ended up getting tangled up with Spike's past (her getting kidnapped by Vicious's goons and meeting Gren, one of Julia's close friends). However despite what a lot of people think, I think they are great for each other for a multitude of reasons! Faye is much more important to Spike's story than what appears on the surface.

While I am a huge shipper for them and definitely enjoy the thought of Spike surviving and ending up with Faye, it wouldnt have happened unless Spike got over his past (aka Julia), and Spike dying is a fitting ending for his story. as if she was pondering the fact that she could never be a Julia.Īt the end when Fayes crying, it could be two DOL- 1) the fact she’ll never see him again or 2) that she was not worth staying for. When Faye describes Julia to Jet, she calls her ordinary (which is shady) pauses but then says: “The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone”. Spike is highly despondent, since his disconnection from Julia, so he doesn’t have to emotional capacity to care about a new girl (Faye).įaye literally doesn’t even know who she is, so how can she truly love someone else?īut all they have is each other (Jet takes on a paternal figure). Spike and Faye look out for each other, have joking banter that’s flirtatious/coy. But by their actions and nips at each other, you can tell that they care. It’s never spoken because both of them have emotional walls, so they can’t allow themselves to be vulnerable. They did fall in love, in a toxic, dysfunctional way.
